It is another bright and sunny day, and cold enough to freeze… well, you know the rest.
(something about a certain piece of anatomy on a brass monkey.)
There is nothing like January in the North, well maybe February too.
To be fair March can be warm-er.
Athena has discovered the hot air register and is hugging it close.
I guess it has been a bit of an environmental shock to her system to move from the warmth of sunny California to the middle of Canada.
She hasn’t set a foot outside yet, hasn’t even gone into what we call the sunporch.
Then again at this time of the year Snoop wouldn’t either, except in error. It is really cold in that room at this time of the year. In summer it can be blistering hot.
My niece showed up with a box of sparkling pompoms for her, and she caught on to what to do with them almost immediately. It wasn’t that she didn’t know how to play with them, but now I am finding pompoms in her food dishes and water dishes, under my feather blanket… you get the idea.
She is also showing me how well she can jump, which hasn’t been going over so well… well, maybe I should say that, she has gone over very well, with the empty boxes, and anything else I store on the top of my computer desk (especially).
I have only caught her on the top of the china cabinet once… the old china cabinet that is.
The corner china cabinet is visited regularly. She ignores my warnings.
It is a kitten thing.
I get the feeling she is feeling the pressure of Snoop’s ghost at times, especially when people come to the door looking for him and get introduced to her. She doesn’t seem to appreciate their reaction of “Oh, cute kitten. We are really going to miss the Snoop.”
No pets, no cuddles, no admiration… I told her she is going to have to make her own reputation, she doesn’t want to hear that though.
I have been invited to go back to Kelowna for a short visit, well longer, but it isn’t possible, there are too many things going on here.
Also, with the knees acting up, it might not be possible.
I also would like to get my computer fixed.
(it woofed its cookies)… I know ‘not funny’.
To bring us up to date otherwise, I have been slowly getting back into writing, it has taken a while, but now I am getting things moving.
I have about 7 chapters to type out, (will revise as I type).
That is what happens when I am not pleased with what I write, it takes on the character of an outline.
It seems like all the stories, except the one I am writing is running through my head at the moment. I wonder if that means it will be easier to write them when the time comes.
I guess we will find out.
Time to go… fighting to keep the kitten off the keyboard and listening to her yowl, she is getting that Siamese sound to her voice and lose the kittenish meow. And with the way the folded boxes are teetering on top of the computer desk I am going to have to watch that I don’t get caught under an avalanche.
Until next week… stay warm and read a good book.
Maybe she would leave the boxes on the desk alone if you scattered a few empty ones around the house. LOL Sorry to hear you can’t make the trip to Kelowna. It is probably a little warmer there. Is Becca to busy to help with the computer? Sorry the knees are acting up . It is the cold and you know they are going to have to do surgery on the one sooner or later. Wish they could get it out of the way sooner for you.
It is a cat thing, there are boxes lower, but cats like to be high.
