On Tuesday the temperatures soared here. In fact, we broke a heat record that had stood since 1952.
Now a low has settled in to take its place and you can sure feel fall settling in.
It is raining today, but shouldn’t be for too long… well, maybe until tomorrow. As far as I am concerned, we didn’t need the rain, but the farmers are happy that their fields are getting moisture.
Again, as for me, it could have waited. I have things I want to do outside yet… then again, they are not things I am allowed to do, so maybe this is a message from someone who knows better.
It has, overall, not been a good week… and I know I shouldn’t gripe… but doing it anyway, sigh. I have had an abnormally bad case of vertigo, to the point where I am not allowed to drive anywhere on my own.
Looking at van grumpily.
I do have groceries to buy. A good example of what happens when I am not able to drive for a prolonged period of time is last night at supper when I decided to make hotdogs. I know they don’t get along with my stomach… I call them indigestion in a bun… did I listen? You know it. I can still taste those lips and well you know…
… So, now I am going to see who I can shanghai into driving me to Costco, and a couple other places, to get groceries… maybe next week.
I have plans to make things that would fit into this season really well, but need supplies. Sigh.
I finished all the reworking on ‘Final Contact’, so that is in the editing pile now. I am also 1/3 of the way through ‘People of the Phoenix’, which should be finished by the end of next week..
. I love the speed those short stories move, but have a difficult time keeping them short..
. After I am finished this one, I am going to take a week off to read.
I have also begun to make a few larger doilies, mainly because I figure my sister should need some by now, and they make great Christmas presents.
Speaking of which, my sister is on a small vacation, and they decided to add a short sailing trip on the ‘Bluenose II’ to the itinerary at the last minute. I hope they had a great time because that opportunity doesn’t happen that often.
What about Thena and Tath, you ask? They have been doing their thing, racing around the house and shifting the hairballs around..
. yes, I need to vacuum, no, they don’t want me to.
It doesn’t bother Thena so much, but Tath goes into hiding.
They have both been shockingly good lately too.
It makes me wonder if they are coming down with something, but they don’t seem to.
Maybe it is the cool nights that make them want to hibernate, not that we have had frost yet. The long range forecast hints that there might not be any until into October. I can live with that.
My book production list for the year is getting shorter, as everyone has noticed. There is only ‘Hidden Kingdoms’ and ‘An Elven Tradition’ left to write this year.
One is a full size novel, the other another novella… I am hoping to have them done in time to take another reading break over the Christmas holidays.
I am so behind and it didn’t help that when I was in Ottawa, I bought even more books to add to the TBR list… There is nothing like a signed book… LOL.
I am a glutton for punishment.
I need to go up into my office to get a shopping bag full of books from there. Yes, I am giving some of my older books away. It is time I shifted through that library.
There will be some keepers, lots of them, there always is, but some are definitely going.
Anyway, that is about all that is happening, except for a pre-release sale I am having in celebration of ‘Forbidden Contact’. What am I going to celebrate with, you ask? I have put ‘First Contact’ on sale for 0.99, that is a $4.00 saving.
Catch it while it is still up, as it will return to its normal price at the end of the week, Sept. 23.
As always, take care and stay healthy, will see what else I can get into until the end of next week… see you then…
Oh Mary Ann, didn’t know you were suffering from vertigo, no wonder you haven’t been your cheery self. Hope it abates quickly and hope you can get your shopping done. You are moving along just fine with the books so you should be able to get some reading in-I hope so anyway. Take care of yourself and try to have a good weekend. We are cooling down to the 80’s now and upper 60’s at night-love this weather.
Loved it. Praying for you. Hop you ge your reading beak in,
