Yes, that caught me off guard, and don’t ask me why.  We all know that this is the one everyone waits for, at least locally.  It is time to put in the garden, yada, yada…  … But for some reason, it wasn’t computing this year.  I am supposed to be getting company, not sure if that is going to happen or not.  Some things can be pretty iffy at times.  It has been a really strange week, no writing, no editing, as much reading as I could fit in.  Even Tath and Thena haven’t been on the tear as much as they usually are.  Thena would love to go outside, but with all the wood ticks and hunting birds out there, not happening pussycat.  She would be a snack for the hunting birds.  Tath couldn’t care less.  If you would take the two characters of those cats and merge them, you would probably end up with someone like Snoop.  Lazy Tomcat with attitude.  I can’t say that Tath is the ultimate lazy Tomcat, or that he doesn’t have attitude, he does... But… then there is Thena, who is a loving kitty cat, who will let anyone pet her, but not hold her, unless it is a select few.  If you don’t fall into that category, you are apt to get hissed at.  If you don’t take her seriously and pursue the matter, you will get warned, cussed and (if you still don’t believe anything that small can cause serious damage), ask the vet why she wears gloves to examine her, and refuses to cut her nails.  (which is something else that needs to be done.)  Tath will let you cut his nails without much fuss, but you have to catch him first.  He isn’t so wild about being held either, and thinks that because he is so pretty, he can get away with murder.  

In case anyone thinks that the characters in my books are not bugging me to tell their story, I have news on that front.  Intercession is poking at me, with Lost Kingdoms beginning to clear its throat, and The Phoenixes Choice sighing in the background… this should be interesting.  There is going to be a lot going on in Intercession, but that is good, because it will be another large book.  No, nothing like Kings of the Empire, but still large.  All reports from the editing crew says there hasn’t been much progress with them.   ‘Hunter’s Challenge’ is only 25% done in the second last edit.  ‘Beyond the Myth’ is coming S-L-O-W-L-Y… or so I have been told.  ‘Kings of the Empire’ is about 33% done in the main edit.  We will see how things progress over the long weekend. Or if they do… 

I actually broke out the red pen, to go through the first chapter of Intercession, yesterday.  I didn’t get far.  Too many interruptions, and I want to get some reading in … which I am having limited success with.  I have caught up to a few of my favourite authors, and the 5 small piles of books to read have gotten shorter, but I still have a long way to go... I might read a little into June, just to get those read.

It has been hazy in the sky lately, too many forest fires both locally and not so close.  I am not in that zone, the terrain that surrounds me is flat and notably prairie.  There are trees, but that is because there is a large river close by.  It has, unfortunately made life difficult for some, because of reparatory problems.  The hospitals have been busy with that.  I hope it doesn’t continue the way it is going, because things are getting out of control.

Well, I guess I should go, although I haven’t said it all.  I will be a signing author at next year’s ROMANCING THE CAPITAL in August of 2017.  For those who are within striking range, you are welcome to stop in.  Tickets are going fast for that event, they always do.   But you don’t need to by a ticket ahead of time to drop in.   I will be having more to say on this matter as time goes by.  As ever, hoping you have a great long weekend, lots of sun and relaxation, or grass to cut, because tis the season.  At least there is colour outside again.  Have a good one, until next week… I am off… and running… again.
